Wednesday’s Story

our house front

Good-bye Arizona Home.  We loved you while we had you!

I miss you my beautiful shutters. They are just things:)

You know that all-consuming feeling we had that it was time for a change in our lives?  Read about it HERE if you like.

A big question with this change and subsequent move was “what do we do with our house.”  We knew where to go for the answers and we knew what we were supposed to do.  God is in charge.

We were to sell our house.

Yes, in this economy.  Are we crazy?

Although renting our home was the plan in the beginning we never felt comfortable with the idea.  We considered several things:

- Would the economy come back any time soon?  We felt that this would take years.

- Could we rent it for enough to cover our mortgage?

- Because we would be out of state we felt we would need to hire a management company which would add to our monthly expenses.

- We would still be on the hook for everything that needed repaired.

- You never know what condition a renter will leave your house in.

All our friends in the real estate field told us we should sell.  Through prayer, this option was confirmed.

We found the perfect realtor.  She worked hard and fast.

We scrubbed, cleaned and manicured our house until it looked as perfect as we could get it.  It was listed for sell on Friday, April 8th.

God had a nice family just waiting in the wings.  Within hours of the listing we had our first showing.  No further showings were needed.  The family made an offer that day!  Woo Hoo!  We accepted their offer and were under contract the next day, Saturday, April 9th.

I was really happy because I didn’t have to keep the house looking perfect every minute of every day just in case there was a showing.  With Big Mister gone, this was such a relief.

Family, friends and neighbors were shocked to hear that on the very first day and the very first people that looked, bought our house.  They’d say, “in this economy…no way.”

We’d just smile and think to ourselves, “God is in charge”.

Our realtor said, “we must be making the right decision.”  We already knew that but it was nice for someone else to recognize it.

Were we surprised it sold so quickly?  Yes and no.  Yes, because our last house took six months to sell which you can read about HERE.  But our house before that sold in one day.  So…you just never know for sure.  And, no, we weren’t surprised because as we were praying for answers regarding our house we felt like it would all be over real soon.

Ta Da!

It’s done.  In June we closed on our house. It took a little longer than we would have liked, but that’s alright.  This chapter has come to an end.  The home that we loved for four years is now just a house to us.

We have a new place to call home and we are loving it here in Utah.  We are now on the lookout for a house to buy here…another new place to call home.  We have already begun checking out different neighborhoods and will patiently wait for something to come up that’s just right for us.

We are so thankful for a loving Father in Heaven who hears and answers all of our prayers.  We know He will direct us to a new house that will become our home.

We sure do miss you. The house you are living in now is so beautiful! We were just up in Utah (Logan) visiting family over the 4th of July. LOVED the weather there! Hope you and your family are doing well.
