Stadium of Fire

I just LOVE the Stadium of Fire. Love. Love. We are so happy we were able to attend this year.

The Stadium of Fire is always a fantastic show of entertainment and fireworks held at the BYU football stadium. This year definitely did not disappoint.

Here we are waiting for the show to begin.

The military are always honored and they also had about 700 stadium of fire dancers.

Skydivers flew into the middle of the football field right on cue.

The Air force flyover is always a treat. It was so loud our seats were vibrating.

David Archuleta performed several of his hit songs. He sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Stadium of Fire when he was just 12 years old. They began tonight’s version with a video of him performing the song when he was 12 and then David came out on stage after a couple of lines and finished the song up live. His voice has definitely come down an octave or so! The stage was a distance away so we snapped these photos from the big video screens.

Little Miss was very excited to see David Archuleta.

The headliner of the evening was Brad Paisley. He puts on one fantastic show. We loved it.

You wouldn’t know it, but where those stripes are under the screen is a big pool of water. His final song is a song called, “Water”. At the end of the song he takes off his hat, lays down his guitar and jumps right into the pool of water. You can see his shadow swimming away. It was so cool and unexpected.The highlight of the evening is always the fireworks. It is the largest stadium fireworks show in the world. People come from all over to view these fireworks. Others stake out places on housetops and fields in the surrounding communities or climb Y Mountain early in the morning to get the best spot. It was a “concert in the sky” for sure. Spectacular!

The only downer to our evening was the traffic jam after. What would normally be 1/2 hour ride home took us over two hours. Bummer! Provo could use some help in traffic congestion after stadium events. Or, next year we will bring a cooler with snacks and drinks, some games and music and just wait it out in our parking spot. Or, we will park miles away and just get a good walk in.

They do have street dancing and a few parties going on after the fireworks for people who want to just hang out for a while to avoid the traffic jam. Great idea!

Overall, The Stadium of Fire was a great start to our 4th of July weekend of events.
