Where milk comes from!

Last week we enrolled the kids in a week long afternoon summer camp at a farm in Salt Lake.  They absolutely loved it.

(So did mom…a little shopping time!)

Farm living is the life for them! 

Farm visiting is the life for me.  Hee Hee.

At the farm they got to gather eggs, play ball, play water games, tour the farm, and go on nature walks.  They also made candles, washed clothes on a wash board, played with and fed a ton of different animals and made new friends. 

Their favorite activity was milking the cow.   They thought that was pretty cool and wanted to take a turn over and over again!  We also took a tour of how milk went from the cow to the grocery store. 

We paid close attention to this mother who guarded her eggs intently.  One step too close and she "hissed” at you.  Wait, isn’t hissing what snakes do?  Anyway, she would open her beak as wide as it would go and make this really mean warning sound.  We knew we’d be in trouble if we got too close.  Every day we walked by her and sometimes she’d stand up and use her beak to check her eggs and turn them.  There were at least four large eggs in her nest.   We can’t wait to go back and see if there are new baby ducks.
