The Derby

The Pinewood Derby was held the day we moved.  

We weren't going to participate in the derby, it was just bad timing.  However, Little Mister was able to finish up his requirements to receive his Webelos award and we didn't want him to miss out on that in our current ward.    So, off to the derby we went.  

The evening before our big move of all the heavy furniture, the kids and I filled our van and took a load to our new home.  Big Mister decided at the last minute to stay home and finish the derby cars.  The kids each had Uncle Darren help them make a car when we were in Arizona in January for mom's funeral.  Derby cars are just one of Uncle Darren's specialties.   The cars were not complete yet, so Big Mister fiddled with them, attached the wheels, and took them down at the last minute for a weigh in.

Little Mister received his Webelos Award and WON THE DERBY!  Big Mister was so glad he went ahead and finished the car.  Little Mister was so excited.

The cub scout leader has a special pink car she races every year and it rarely is beat.  Little Mister's car beat her car in every race. 

After the official race was over and Little Mister had won, they had a fun race.  Little Misses card beat every car including the cub scout leader and her brothers.   She claimed the title of unofficial Pinewood Derby winner.
