Visiting the church sites

Of course, we toured Temple Square.

We were just in time to listen to an organ recital where they also demonstrated the acoustics of the building.

Inside the Conference Center. 

This is my first visit to the Conference Center.  The inside is massive.  There are three levels holding 7000 people at each level.  We took the hosted tour so we could learn more about the building and visit the roof.   The host said this is the largest building of its kind in the world and also the largest lighting/sound system of its kind in the world. 

See the gold round emblem at the top of the organ pipes?  That is ground level.  They had to dig and dig and dig to fit this building below the ground.  It really is just huge.  

The flags on each side of the organ pipes were placed there in preparation for the General Young Women Meeting this weekend.

Inside the Conference Center they have a hallway and room filled with large pictures of every brother who has served as counselors in the First Presidency.  Loved it.

When you are on the roof of the conference center you’d never know it was a roof.   It’s just like being in a park.  Trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and fountains.  

The Church Office Building.

All of the grounds are hurriedly being planted with spring flowers for the season and for conference.

We took a tour of the Church Office Building and went up to the 26th Floor Observation Deck where they teach all about the surrounding areas and points of interest.  Little Mister was scared to go but was so glad he did.  When we came down he said it was “cool”.

After Big Mister was done with a day of work we went to dinner.  We brought him back with us to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice songs for the upcoming Conference.  The conductor “bounces”, Little Mister commented.  They sound just as beautiful in person as through the TV/Radio.  But, it was fun to listen to the conductor stop and start them over and over again.  The choir members sure have to be on their feet because he tells them the correction once and is back into the song immediately.  

We loved our time spent at Temple Square.
