Friday in Provo

IMG_4162While the kids were out of school for a three week break we visited several new places.  We’ve really enjoyed seeing lots of new things here in Utah.  There never seems to be a lack of something to do.

A few weeks ago on a beautiful Friday we drove down to Provo to do some exploring (that’s what the kids like to call it, exploring!)

First stop, The Bean Museum on the BYU Campus.

I had a class in the theatre in this building, probably biology.   The thing I remember most though, was the long hike up a million stairs to get to class.

This is a great museum and is a must see.  Bonus:  It’s FREE!bean museum1The museum seems to have every animal, bird, insect, etc. imaginable.   There is a ton to see and a gift shop too!

One of the most interesting things we saw was a squid that has been preserved…it’s not the greatest picture because the squid is behind glass.  Isn’t it creepy looking.  But so interesting, too.

Lots and lots to see.

After the museum we went to the BYU Bookstore.  It’s always fun to see what new stuff they have!  We also ate lunch on campus.  The kids enjoyed eating lunch with all the “big kids”.

After lunch we went bowling.

IMG_4205Once we left BYU I drove the kids around the streets of Provo.  They don’t like this as much as I do!  We drove past the Provo Tabernacle.  It will be fun to see it transformed into a new Temple.

Utah Lake was our next stop.   It was nice to be so close to the water.  Peaceful.

We skipped rocks, walked out on the dock, pretended to fish and watched airplanes fly overhead into the Provo airport.

To end the day we went to the Malt Shoppe for a treat.

Him:  cookie dough malt

Her:  watermelon shaved ice (I’ll never understand why she chooses ice over ice cream!)
